Ferry to Ferry in Black and White Photography

Ferry to Ferry in Black and White Photography

Saturday the 23rd of July
Milsons Point/Kirribili - 9.30am - 2 Hours
Black and White photography is about abstraction; From the start, we're removing a constant element of how most people experience the world: Colour. Starting at the Jefferey St Ferry Wharf, we'll start with a brief conversation on shooting in black and white and what we can use to really capture the eyes of our viewers. As we make our way around the water under the Harbour Bridge to Luna Park, we'll do a couple of exercises to practice what we've discussed. We'll spend a bit of time seeing if we can find the shapes, textures, and shadows that make black and white photography so appealing in Luna Park before we head to Wendy's Secret Garden and again focus on searching for subjects that lend themselves to our exercise in removing colour. We will finish the morning just outside Wendy's at the Lavender Bay Ferry Pier if you want to ride back over to Circular Quay or make your way back to the Milsons Point Train Station, both are easy walks from The Secret Garden. What we'll cover: -Fundamentals of learning to see in black and white -Techniques for creating effective black and white images

Beginners Photography Class

Beginners Photography Class

Saturday the 30th of July
Sydney Botanic Gardens - 10am - 3 hours
This class is for anyone who likes taking pictures that want to understand a little bit of the technical end of how cameras work and put some of that into practice in a field environment around Sydney Harbour. The goal is to give the photographer a better understanding of the powerful device they are using to give them more control over the results. This class is about taking steps and making progress. If you only shoot on automatic, let's get you to an assisted mode, if you're comfortable in assisted, let's experiment with full manual.
