Introduction to Bird Photography Meetup

Introduction to Bird Photography Meetup

Saturday the 30th of October
Royal Botanical Garden - 8:00 am - 2 hours
Bird photography is one of the most challenging natural light type of photography. Bird move, run, fly and tend to be always in the wrong spot. All this gives you unparalled feeling of satisfaction when you get a great shot. In this meeting we will learn the basics, and practice on reasonably easy birds like gulls, moorhens, cormorants and ducks. What you will take from this meetup, you will be able to use with any other bird shooting

ABOUT SYDNEY
PHOTOGRAPHY
GROUP
Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.
Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations across the region.
New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month.
And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Sydney Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session.

We ask that everyone attending a meetup follows social distancing guidelines:

Stay home if you're sick.
Keep 1.5 metres away from others.
Don't make unnecessary physical contact with others. Avoid physical greetings, such as handshakes, hugs and kisses.
Wash your hands regularly with alcohol-based sanitiser.
* Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Use a flexed elbow or a tissue; if you use a tissue, dispose of it immediately and appropriately.
REVIEWS
I found the information very helpful and very well explained. Thank you Ran for being so patient and carefully going over steps that people were feeling unsure about. I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your lessons to my friends.

This photoshop course was so good. Have been trying to self-teach myself photoshop but some things were so hard to figure out. Ran being there on Zoom helped me navigate through each project and find solutions when mere instructions weren't so obvious. Loved that we walked through projects and got to work on them ourselves - not just watch on youtube.

I think the class is a great way to start. It’s not a full day where you receive too much information. The basics were well explained and you could practise what you’ve learned.

Absolutely loved this night group with Grace. Lots of great technical and lighting advice. Big Kudus with choice of location; Sydney harbour backdrop, Saturday night buzz and not to mention the the impromptu fireworks! LOVED IT!

INSTRUCTORS
Grace Clinton
Grace has been in the photography industry for 4 years now, starting off in event work and was even on the media team for the Melbourne International Three Day Event at the age of 16. She's now moved onto more portrait work and takes headshots for actors and models. Grace strongly believes in creating beautiful imagery using the simple equipment, because when we are limited with tools that's when our creativity comes out the strongest. She swears by the nifty fifty lens and considers it essential for every portrait photography shoot.
Ran Fuchs
Ran loves taking action photos whether in nature or of people. Ran is particularly passionate about - bird photography (IG: @bird_art_photos) and - martial arts and sports photography (IG: @australian_martialartists) . He also enjoys street photography which he finds to be the equivalent of nature photography in urban environment. For work, Ran does school and architecture photography. Ran will be holding his first solo exhibition in September. You can see more of his work at: https://www.ranfuchs.com/
Trey Pentecost
Trey just moved to Sydney from New York City and is enjoying photographing the city and exploring new areas.
